NOIDA: A day after Congress workers tried to cross the border to reach Hathras, FIRs were registered against 502 party members on Sunday for protesting at the DND Flyway.
According to the complaint filed by Rakesh Kumar Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Sector 20 police station, the party workers were warned a day before but they didn’t listen. The SHO said, “They were told that such a protest will affect the law and order situation but even then, they gathered in large numbers at DND.
They started gathering since morning and raised slogans against the government while flouting all the guidelines laid by the administration in the light of the pandemic.”
He added that FIRs have been registered against district president Manoj Chaudhury,
Congress president of Noida unit Shahabuddin and 500 others under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 270 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC and Section 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 with the Sector 20 police.
Meanwhile, refuting the allegations Chaudhury, who has been named in the FIR, said that he was held under house arrest by the Noida police on Saturday and he was not present at the DND protest site. “The FIR and the allegations are baseless and undemocratic. I was not present there on Saturday. I am being framed in a wrong case.”
Around Saturday noon, several Congress workers had started gathering at the DND toll gate after party leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, among others, were stopped from crossing the border.
